Although Heathrow currently requires employees to meet Group 1 medical standards, we assess all clients to the higher Group 2/AOA standards. Group 1 is broadly equivalent to CAP 790 standards, while Group 2 aligns with the more stringent AOA requirements.

This approach adds value, as many companies are now adopting Group 2 as the default standard. By assessing to Group 2, we help future-proof your workforce against potential changes where Group 1 Certification is no longer deemed valid - avoiding the need to retest staff later which adds significant cost to your business' operations.

If an individual does not meet Group 2 criteria, we then assess against Group 1 standards and issue a certificate accordingly if they meet those requirements. 

If you would prefer all your employees to be assessed to Group 1 standards only, we can also do this.

An Airside Driver Medical Examination at D4You Clinic includes a comprehensive range of assessments to ensure your drivers meet AOA's  safety standards:

Vision Test: We evaluate visual acuity, color vision, and visual fields to ensure drivers have the meet the necessary eyesight standards for safe vehicle operation.

Hearing Test: Hearing is assessed to confirm that drivers can detect alarms, signals, and other important communications and to confirm the driver is not "profoundly deaf", as per Group 1 and Group 2 requirements.

Medical History and Examination: We assess the presence of any symptoms, pre-existing medical conditions, relevant past medical history and current medication as well as conducting a medical examination to assess for signs of underlying medical conditions.

BMI, Height, Weight, Smoking, and Drinking Stats: We assess these metrics to help gauge overall health and fitness for the role.

Yes, you will receive the airside driver medical certificate within 24 hours of the appointment taking place [if the employee has passed]. More often than not, the certificate is issued within a couple of hours of the medical taking place. The certificate is then emailed directly to the employer [with the client's written consent]. This can then be uploaded to the employees airside portal.

We work closely with a highly regarded and experienced airside training provider based at Heathrow. They can deliver the airside driver training for your employees and also coordinate both the airside medical and Heathrow airside driver training dates.

This creates an efficient, end-to-end solution where all your airside driver requirements are handled by one team, ensuring everything is completed within the required time frame.
